In 1984, Harry Leeks, a haulage contractor from Bedford, playing his bowls at Olney, offered to sponsor a pairs competition. The winners would receive a small prize rather than be presented with a trophy. This he did until 1989 when he transferred his allegiance to Bedford Borough.
The Brock family, proprietors of Hilary Brock Limited, were asked if they would sponsor a pairs competition to fill the gap left after the withdrawal of Harry Leeks sponsorship. Something which they were very happy to do.
The family usually enter a team.
The salver is presented to the winning pair at the end of the competition.
The first winners of the salver were Brian Marshall & Jerry Harris.
